Sorry about the upcoming rant. I probably shouldn’t do it, but there ya go.
Unless you play Master Clubs on PS4 here in the “Ultra” sim experience, you’re just another exploit player. Might as well turn the aids back on.
I know no one will really care what I say since I’ve been absent so long and I was never that good anyway.
I’ve played ghosts in tournament rounds that are absolutely good enough to play Master clubs, yet they choose to play Pro clubs. I can only assume it’s to improve their scores. Rather than get better at the top level, they choose to use an “aid” to be more competitive.
I’m in a bit of a glass house here as I chuck my stones around due to me playing on PS4, But we PS4 players should be playing at the highest difficulty level, period. We don’t have nearly the same challenges that other platforms do.
This society is still the best of all available anywhere, but I am tired of even the tiny bit of gamesmanship that goes on. I consider you guys to be online friends, and the Pro clubs thing doesn’t change that. I’ve just lost the desire to compete here because the playing field isn’t really level as far as I’m concerned
So I will take a break from USE tournaments. Actually, it’s effectively an extension of my ongoing break. I’m just formalizing it.
Have a great summer!

I agree that all should play on the same difficulty settings - if we had proper difficulty settings in the game. Unfortunately, HB decided on this clubset idea - which in my humble opinion is very bad game design. We are pretty close to ending this season, so any change on rule on pro clubs is in my opinion not good at this point.
The good news, is that this clubset idea is gone in the new PGA2k21 game. We need to see what the difficulty settings are in the new game, since we don't have that information yet - and then I expect to see a debate on this topic.

I don't see pro club usage as a big issue here.
How many have there been who've done it this season, maybe 3? And none of them for the whole season?
Our current pro club user is on XB1.
I don't agree that it's "gamesmanship" by the people who've done it. All have expressed that the reason is because they're having tempo issues and have become really frustrated with playing. Unless they were lying. We want people to enjoy their play.
I would say, in my personal opinion, that if someone switches to pro clubs, due to frustration with the game, and then scores REALLY well for like 2-3 tournaments in a row, they "should" consider moving back to masters; but I really empathise with the frustration issue, so I'd be reluctant to go around forcing people to change back to masters.
Also agree with the above comment that we can't get a level playing field anyway.
We treat everybody's opinions equally here. And ability certainly has nothing to do with opinions getting heard. All the most active members on the forum, and all the admins, are mid-level players.

Unless they were lying. We want people to enjoy their play. When we get proper difficulties - I bet many here will find the highest difficulty settings very frustrating. Question will then become, what difficulty should we use? And - golf is frustrating most of the time. But the reward when you play good is then that much sweeter.

Actually, it’s effectively an extension of my ongoing break. I’m just formalizing it. Have a great summer! Since you are directing this at me because I know you play my ghost in tournaments. I have used Master Clubs this entire season up until a few weeks ago. I played Master clubs the entire tournament for Austin C.C. and beat you by 5 strokes. I have been using Pro clubs on and off the last few tournaments. I'm here to have fun more than to compete. Using ghosts can also be called an exploit. Watching what club they use helps you decide which club to use. The announcer John will even call it out. I have actually scored worse using Pro Clubs most of the time I have used them. I'm usually within a stroke or two of each club set with the same course and conditions. We play from the tips and usually always have a round or two with high winds. Pro clubs can't go as far. Nothing is stopping you from playing ghosts that use Master Clubs. Thanks for popping in once in a blue moon to express your meaningless opinion. Pro Club weenies are playing by USE Rules so what's the problem. Do you think that everyone is supposed to play the way Jeff wants to play? That's a lot to ask for someone that doesn't even show up on this site anymore. Please have a great summer!

Ah yes, I'd forgotten Wade has been using them on and off recently; ray was obviously the XB1 player I was referring to.
So now this thread comes across more like a personal attack. That's not cool really, is it...
As an admin I had decided not to comment on the thread title, I'm not really into "censorship," but maybe as an admin I should be stepping in on stuff like that. Certainly if it's targeted at one person. That's also not cool.
We encourage (constructive) criticism, comments and questions about the society as a whole, but this is supposed to be a friendly place, so can we keep comments aimed at the society in general, or aimed at the admins, who know that comes with the territory. Thanks.
If there is any personal beef, please send PMs to any of the admin and we'll handle it all privately. Thanks.
Tempted to delete this thread, but there is a more general theme to it as well and maybe I should wait till other admins have had a say.

I expressed my strong opinion about Pro clubs, especially on PS4. I acknowledged my inherent (and unfair, really) advantage playing on PS4 compared to the other platforms. I acknowledged my own lack of skill. I said I still consider all of you to be online friends. I said I believe this to be the best society anywhere. I meant every word of that. Where is the personal attack? I meant to dissuade people who may be considering using Pro clubs, and to maybe get anyone already using them to think twice. I feel as strongly about that as I do the loft box. Signed, The Putting Weenie

If we're talking up our virtues, then I didn't say it was definitely a personal attack, didn't delete the thread and wanted to wait for other admins to have a say. I feel I was very fair in my response. That's the last I'll say on it, and let others come in.

Speaking as a player, not an admin, I don't feel that pro clubs offer the same advantage as the loft box.

Signed, The Putting Weenie Jeff I am not sure why you just didn't pm Wade as I know you two have a friendly rivalry and used to play USE tournaments together. Maybe some friendly banter and a challenge for a match together using Master clubs. This is a friendly society that doesn't accuse others of gamesmanship or exploitation and unjustly in this case I think. You know that I myself am not a huge fan of pro clubs but I know why Wade and Ray use them sometimes, master clubs can be really stressful at times. If you're looking for an excuse not to play USE, a couple of people playing with pro clubs is a pretty poor one I think. Anyway you're welcome back anytime Jeff, enjoy your summer. Maybe we'll see you back for the next game.

Playing a game which we are not familiar. Ray is awesome. Was awesome before he switched to pro clubs. I look forward to having 🍷 and playing his ghost on a Friday evening. How sad is that!!!! 😂 Always has a better round than me but my problem is putting and silly nonsense. Might buy a PS (whatever number) and make suprise appearances at the bottom of the leaderboard. Yee, haa.
