Single match play matches are up in the results thread, some great match ups!!! Ooh, juicy! So now this is where stroke index IS completely relevant, right? Every hole needs to be considered to work out the scoring?

Every hole needs to be considered to work out the scoring? If the handicaps are different, count up the difference between the two and the player with the higher handicap gets 1 stroke on each the toughest holes stroke index 1,2,3 etc

Also everyone ignore the stroke index in the game unless you're on PS4 as that is what we will be basing matches on.

I meant to mention the stroke index numbering. Last week, an easy par 5 was I think 4 on the stroke index, and a long par 3 was something like 13 or 15. It seemed it was the wrong way round, but maybe it's just a true reflection?

So if people want to be aware of stroke index as they go along during their rounds, they should refer to your screenshot in the results thread 👍 We should probably keep reminding people of that 👍

I guess the game compiles the average scores on each hole, makes sense that they might be different for all platforms.

It makes sense that they would be different, but I can not make sense of that par 5 being "harder" than that par 3. It was literally a 520yd (ish, not long anyway) par 5, where eagle was in play, and birdie almost a gimme with no obvious mistakes, and the par 3 was over 200yds I think!

Maybe the official HB courses are chosen stroke indexes rather than averages, I notice they were the same on PS4 and XBox1.

Well spotted , the hole 13 par 5 is a 5 handicap on PS4 and Xbox and is actually the easiest hole on PC stroke index 18

Maybe we should base our stroke index on PC reflecting on last weeks stroke indexes.

Maybe we should base our stroke index on PC reflecting on last weeks stroke indexes. Maybe just do one more week, and see if the same thing happens again? Otherwise agreed 👍

I think there might be a problem with the PS4 and Xbox as hole 13 is a shortish par 5, it plays 18 on PC and 5 on the consoles. I would say stroke index 18 would be more realistic for that hole.

In real life, stroke index is a complex thing that is based on a bogey player and par player for matchplay. There is a guideline for indexing a course from RA&A. The most important you normaly see is that hole length is very important because the better player usualy have more distance on the strokes.
