Agreed, we have two very good designers in our community. Just to reassure paddy, this will definitely be featuring in extra society in the next 1-3 tournaments! š Just keep looking at my list of courses and there's others I've been desperate to try. Cog hill was an absolute delight. I will always prioritise our designers, but that doesn't mean the very next tournament š Paddy does a 2 round tournament each week which is perfect for me.2 extra tournaments a week is good for me also as I can pick if I'm strapped for time. The 4 rounders can be too much though. I won't start a tourney if I think I can't finish it. Two 2 rounders is my typical weekly set-up, which means you can usually take part in one a week of mine š I will continue mixing it up though. Probably won't do many 4 rounders, Augusta was a special occasion for those missing the masters. I actually wanna do 1 round events, to get more courses tested; I can defo forsee my "to play" list just growing exponentially š only issue with 1 rounders is they basically have to be 1-2 day turnaround, which means people might miss the chance to play.

I can see why you're proud of it Paddy it's a gem. Really enjoyed playing it was enjoying the scenery too much as my score shows. What would be cool in the next game is an amateur mode, where you put in your own ball carry distances and play the game with master club difficulty. Would love to play this course with my own distances because 6300 yards is roughly the distances I play from (yellow tees) in real life. The courses you and Anders have put up here are exceptional, really stunning looking courses. Trying to take some 21:9 screenshots to show the beauty of these courses from the right angles. Ultrawide really shows so much more of the course Thatās a good idea! Iām kind of lucky in a way as the yardages are kind of similar to what I hit in real life but it goes straighter on PS4 š¤£ although the VF and VS I used to get on Xbox felt real enough! Glad you enjoyed your round, itās a course that should remain enjoyable for a long time when youāre looking for a chilled out game! Iām in awe of Anders though, he churns our great courses like a well oiled machine! I donāt know how he manages to blend the speed with such solid execution, itās brilliant. Thereās another guy who does fast LiDAR courses but I think his work is crap and rushed (think he did Pine Valley) yet Anders gets the full accurate detail in similar time, superb Curious how long does it take to make a course ? , not that I will take up the challenge. I love the alto sax and the piano but choose to appreciate others playing them rather than spend the time learning them. There is a talent to designing that is way above me, I will just appreciate the courses when I play them as I do a great picturesque course in real life.

Agree, also a 2 rounder gives it more of a competition , 1 rounders will feel a bit empty and more like course testing. Really enjoyed Cog Hill, one for the calendar next year for me.

I built some absolutely amazing courses on sim golf! And couldn't wait to try building one on tgc. Obviously I knew it would be harder, but the principles are the same. I made a course with some good holes, some good views, but overall it was mostly unrealistic and crappy. And I could replicate what was in my head. Apparently the designer works way better on PC, so I may try if I ever get a high powered PC. But to be honest, I think I'll still struggle...

Youād be surprised, I had a few goes at fictional courses before LiDAR and created some ok courses whilst sharpening the basic skills of smoothing and sculpting territory and getting familiar with the tools. I also watched lots of videos online which Iād recommend highly for anyone considering. As for using LiDAR, Chads tool is so easy to use ONCE you learn the method and from there on out itās just attention to detail with photos, memory or YouTube/google earth. If anyone is really interested to learn itās easy for me to teach but I warn you, it takes a lot of hours to make a full replica. Iāve taken 160 hours easy on courses to do a thorough job but Iām OCD with this stuff!

Designer is better on PC for making real courses but in general PS4 is great for fictional. If you wanted to do some quick learning, I watched Scarpaccioās videos on YouTube, his beginner walkthroughs for everything is a great place to start and heās big on using the existing terrain generated and āfinding holesā amongst it. I used to like using water and then building holes around that, find my signature hole first and then route a course around it

Tried to get some footage of Tiger Woods win there in 2008 but no luck. Wish I saved my DVR recording of the tournament.

If I was going to try again, I'd defo watch some other people's as well. I actually have some bookmarks saved. But I do have a grasp of what everything does. I think it's more a conceptual, overall, issue with me, coupled with fine tuning. Yeah, I've got a course started that was built around a lake. Also got a Scottish island course. A couple of the holes on that were pretty cool. But everything is just really exaggerated, and putting a (good) whole course together just seems beyond me...

Thereās another guy who does fast LiDAR courses but I think his work is crap and rushed (think he did Pine Valley) yet Anders gets the full accurate detail in similar time, superb Thanks paddy! I do however spend quite some hours in the designer. I've been on a roll lately with the Corona-situation and can spend 8-12 hours in the designer on a day if I have free from work and no other plans. I really enjoy giving life to the course - and I spend much less time now fiddling around trying out stuff. I have come to a point where I pretty much know what to do and don't spend lots of time to figure out how to do it - it's just time spent to measure, looking at videos and pictures - and try to get things correct. I do not log the time I spend on any given course. To answer the questionĀ hammers1man on how long it takes - that varies in how much details there is on a course. Pebble Beach has lots of details - fences, manor houses etc. I have also got the stairs from the beach on the 5th, though I do not put in rails on the stairs, because it just don't look good. But I can estimate how long I worked on TPC San Antonio; I had to map the course out in OSM - perhaps 10 hours. After that I had a lot of free time and I had quarentine due to Corona - so I took like 14 hours a day on those days (I needed to social isolate myself), so three days of that. Then some days with 4-8 hours. Perhaps 60-70 hours.

If things seem exaggerated they probably are. The best advice I could give is - select the really fuzzy blue brush and hold it down whilst dragging it across surfaces, this will be your best friend if you try again. Itās a game changer

Itās a game changer Did that š Like I said, I do understand how it works, and I have watched quite a few tutorials. I think you'd probably think one or two of my holes are good. It's just that those holes still aren't good enough, and as a whole the courses fall well short. I say exaggerated because they're definitely not good enough, and definitely not what I envisage in my mind. I'm holding myself to very high standards; that I can not match...

Personally I think the real course records are posted here. How can you claim a course record when you have aids on to actually aid you score. It's like having the child barrier up on ten pin bowling and claiming your score is the best.
