2k23 Season 2 Week 1: Cornish Links Classic

St. Enodoc Golf Club, sitting proudly above the affluent village of Rock on the North Cornish coast, is a much revered and cherished place to play golf.

It is held in extremely high regard by a number of notable golfing personnel, institutions and publications.

Golf Digest recently rated the Church course amongst the top 100 best in the World. To put this into context only ten other courses in England made the list.

All of the major UK national magazines continually rank St. Enodoc among the higher echelons of golf courses in the British Isles. And respected golf architect Tom Doak also chose it as one of his ‘Gourmet’s Choice’ selection for his respected book, The Confidential Guide to Golf Courses.

St. Enodoc has rightly received many other accolades and will no doubt continue to do so.

The course has a superb eclectic mix of holes and changes in elevation that take the golfer on an amazing, almost spiritual, journey around the impressive property. But it is greater than the sum of its parts and this is essentially what makes it such a special and unique place.

Cleverly routed by James Braid St. Enodoc enjoys a beautiful location with a varied terrain. The course is like a chameleon in that is changes its characteristics, colours if you like, throughout the entire round to blend in seamlessly with its surrounds.

Round 1 in the books, not my best display of putting.

Unfortunately my window for playing this week was not a good time for tempo, lots of random slows and VF's meant it was a bit of a lottery and the 11th bit me hard in round 1.
An eagle on the 6th helped but it was a jumble of a scorecard.



Round 2 I had a little window where tempo was good and got it to -3 with some good golf, unfortunately the a silly mistake on the 13th left to my first bogey (no tempo issue, just missed in the wrong place), a couple of bad tempos on 17 cost me another bogey but all in all I was pretty happy with a 68.

Was a little reckless in Rd1 after 2 birds to start the round. Some poor tee shots and a couple of overzealous birdie putts rolling off the front on 6 and 9. OB on 11. Rolled in a 44 footer on the back 9 but was scrappy overall and +3 the result.
A little more careful in Rd2 and had a run of 6 birds in 7 holes from 7 to 13, incl a lucky chip in. Scrapped for pars after that but still a -7 in the very high winds so happy with that.
Overall -4. Had a struggle with underestimating the slopes on the green unless you look from all angles and heights. I'm too impatient for that, hence the poor putting in Rd1. A little more circumspect in Rd2 and it paid off.

Love this course and you need to show it some respect. First round struggled on the greens, the only birds were a 35 footer on 8 and 16 footer on 18. Some long hole outs for par on both round but those medium putts were hard to hole this week. 2 rounds of 70 so pretty consistent.


Geforce Experience is playing up, thought I recorded both rounds but it didn't happen.

Tough conditions in round 2, started off very bad but I did manage to gain some momentum on the back 9.

Beat Meyo but lost to Hammer because I fell apart after getting the lead back.

Recorded both my rounds. But forgot I was listening to a podcast while playing and audio was recorded on OBS. Days off keep changing so trying to keep up with everything best I can. First round kept it together really well. Chipped in or close from just about everywhere. Solid -3 in R1 but could've been a few better. Agreed that one must respect these greens and not get too aggressive. Easier said than done in R2. Bunker shot almost went in on the second hole. Tried to gun a 7 footer thru the break but ran it past. Then missed the one coming back for double. Still could've posted a good score. But a few wayward shots in some tough spots. Trying to make up strokes by holing chips can be good if you're on. Not good when you get the pace wrong. Struggling with the swing path and tempo last couple weeks. Ended up +3 in R2 and Even at St Enodoc. Onto the next event 👍

Only would help me with a few strokes here and there is there anything you can put on screen which gives or shows where the slope is,on about 4 holes how it was set up in the 2nd round could not see a thing.
