Kinloch Golf Club
Originating as an idea to provide the Richmond community with a quality “club for a day” golf facility, Kinloch Golf Club was started as a collaborative vision of Marvin M. “Vinny” Giles, III, C.B. Robertson, III, and Charles K. Staples. After selecting Lester George as the golf course architect in early 1999, the property’s beauty and potential made a strong impression on the group. The concept for a daily fee facility quickly faded and the business model to create a very special private golf club was introduced. The three principals embraced the idea of establishing a world-class private golf experience that as Vinny Giles stated in 1999, “is intended first and foremost to be a first-class golf club emphasizing immaculate conditioning, a simple but special clubhouse facility, a small and compatible membership of individual members, a championship golf course and practice facility with service of the highest quality.”
Beginning to accept memberships in July 1999 the club opened the golf course and practice facilities on April 14, 2001. Later that season, Golf Digest magazine awarded Kinloch Golf Club the #1 Best Private New Course in America ranking. As the club grew in memberships each season, the recognition from major golf publications also continued. The Tudor style clubhouse opened for service in the fall of 2002, featuring comfortable amenities along with the traditional appeal and architecture of the Scottish namesake. As the National membership base grew, the initial overnight cottage accommodation was opened in 2005. Instantly becoming an attractive location for members and guests to enjoy accommodations on the grounds of the club, the demand for cottage reservations spawned two additional structures. Commitment and dedication to the traditions of the game, holding steadfast to the mission statement of world-class golf course conditions and quality and comfortable service, have established Kinloch Golf Club as one of the finest private clubs in “the region and beyond.”
Note: This course actually has 19 holes. It is a par 3 playoff hole in case of a tie. I did not include this when doing the designing because the game only gives you 18 pins.
