The Phoenix Open - also known as the Waste Management Phoenix Open takes us to TPC Scottsdale in Arizona. The tournament is historic and began in 1932 with a few years exceptions. It was first held on the Phoenix Country Club, but in 1987 it moved to TPC Scottsdale. Before Covid - this was the most popular tournament with high attendance, and most important the iconic 16th "Coliseum" which is enclosed in grandstands.

I'm still waiting for the sponsors to post the official results to the Valero Texas Open. So I decided to fly to Phoenix and grab the first Tee Time of the day. Very hot in the desert this week. My putting was sharp in R1. I posted a clean card with (-7) in R1.

Bit of a struggle in R2. Was trying not to lose pace but finished a (+1) for the round. I did have a couple of timely chips and a bunker shot to keep my head above water. Sitting at (-6) at the halfway mark.

Struggled again in R3 and R4. I managed to get back to where I finished in R1. This is a long tough track when you don't keep your ball in the cut grass. I finished the Phoenix Open at (-7).

Decided to rack my rounds off early this week, had quite a few ciders whilst I played as opposed to the usual beers, seemed to work;
Shot a fairly straight forward -2 in round 1 with one glaring error finding the water off tee on 18 with a random fast, played averagely in round two and found water again thrice on my way to a +2 round to sit even at the cut.
Round three was my best effort since the swing mechanic changed, had my first bogey free USE round for a -6 65 and then decided to carry on, toppled past the optimum level of ciders and scrambled a Level par 71 to finish at -6. Very happy with my rounds although can't see that score being competitive with the PS boys this week but it gives me hope my game is heading in the right direction finally!
Gotta also say, the HB Scottsdale played very nicely which makes a change! all pins were playable on Fast speeds which was perfectly playable.
Good luck to all those who are yet to tee off and well played @sirwade , great golf!

Round 1 last night forgot to save my scorecard. Bad start with bogies on 2 and 3, scorecard was up and down after 10 holes with 4 birdies and 4 bogies to be level par. Stupidly went for the pin on 12 and thought I hit a nice shot with just a very slight grey. Was enough to hit the bank and land in the drink.Nice pitch to 4 foot but missed the putt for bogey. Bit scrappy after that and found myself 5 over par. I manage a nice pitch on 17 to a couple of feet pull the round back to 4 over. Need to cut out the silly mistakes, still really enjoyed the round and the challenge.

Rd1 was -4 after 4, then pretty steady to get to -7. Rd2 was -4 after 3.....then a bit meh for a -6. Rd3 was -6...after 18. Rd4 was a par fest until a -6 back 9 and -7 for the round. Chip in eagle on 17 was highlight. -26 overall and the tempo was 95% spot on. The odd wayward drive and fluffed approach but everything else was really solid. Putted well on the slower greens. Lovin' the new mouse. Cheers

Round 2 with Anders who played well and holed some cracking long putts and also missed a few short birdie putts. Frustrating time for me with 5 disconnects but my internet is fine for browsing, also as I quit on the 1st tee last time out I couldn't play my new club set up. Just could not hole a thing. This links style bump an run from charles56 with his 5 iron was majestic in round 1
