I finished the Rocket Mortgage Classic. I played Rounds 3 and 4 with Master Clubs. I'm just not seeing this huge advantage with Pro Clubs everyone thinks you have, even me lol. As you can see below, the first 2 rounds with Pro Clubs I shot -5 and +3. Final 2 rounds I shot E and -6 with Master Clubs. Two silly bogey's in the final round cost me a chance to tie GreyOsprey for the lead. " style="max-width:100%;"] " alt=""]
Those are some super interesting scores! Your best two rounds were the easiest and hardest! With different club sets! Did it feel like it was putting or GIR that was getting you the birdies? What caused the less good stuff?
Hey Leon, I'm really not sure. I think with the pro clubs my accuracy was great! The problem was getting the ball to stop on fast greens. Also with high winds I can't get the distance to where I need to be. With Master clubs everything is great but I can't get the accuracy on approach shots. Then throw in my inconsistent putting, it's either very hot or freezing cold lol. Plus I really need to learn how to take my time and actually read landing areas to see where my ball is going to go instead of just gripping and ripping.

I'm back on form at the moment, especially in aids on societies, been nailing my putts. I like playing fast and instinctively, but I defo need to plan my shots better, especially landing areas, like you.

Round 1 Hate the rain, loved the back nine rally. Nobody LIKES the rain Art but, you know, sometimes it rains 😉

Why is Wade's quoting all messed up again?? 😂 I can't figure it out lol. I even removed my banner at the bottom because I thought that was the problem.

teed off right behind Art, got a little sloppy on the last two holes, otherwise felt pretty good.
what gets me about this game is the mechanics. 40 some yds away. I am lying in the heavy rough, and the game tells me its 70% -ish. got an uphill lie, so its gonna take off even more off the distance. Wind is coming towards me. So I pitch the ball with the 57 yd club, thinking 70% of that is 39, and even less due to uphill lie, will put me somewhere before the hole on the green.
Ball carries a full 57 yds and flies the green.
what the heck, game?
Sorry for the vent, it just aggravates me when I know what I'm supposed to do, based on the info I have, and the game mechanics do something like that.

I've recently tried both sets just to see what the advantage was, and I can tell a huge difference between them.
Pro, I can actually hit the ball straighter, by a LOT. It doesn't seem to give me the same tempo issues that master gives, its far easier to keep the line in the blue area.
Masters, I'm wilder, but I hit further.
So my deduction was, that its not really that much of an advantage, as much as it is just trying to match the playstyle you want. Better control vs more distance. I prefer the distance myself, its more fun.

I played Pro clubs for the TPC Scottsdale event then round 1 of last week.
Beside being lazy and forgetting to change back to Pro for round 2 (I played Pro for the Dirtbag event due to peer pressure, otherwise I am Masters Mouse all the way). I enjoy the Master struggle. I can shape shots on Master and have to concentrate to have a good tempo. Pro is like a whack a mole with only one mole hole.
BUT this is a game, and if it brings you joy to play a certain way (like Master clubs for me) then that is the way you should play.

Round 3. A few blemishes but hit a few quality shots as well.

R2 was a bit cleaner. Still missed a handful of medium putts.

Was your tempo spot on for the shot? Slow or fast downswing tempo really effects distance out of the heavy rough for pitch and flop shots.

% lie is fairly trustworthy for full shots, but for pitches and chips you need to be much more careful. Flops too actually, they're the worst. Like the 24yd flop, I can have an 80% lie, take the loft all the way off (not in use obvs!) And it can still go 24yds, or more sometimes!
Paul is right, a fast will defo exaggerate that.
But also, you just need to learn the distances, and maybe play for it to go a bit further than you think.
