Paul and his admin group have been discussing adding a Match Play competition to our society. It is in the development stages and a poll was created to judge interest from the USE society. We are looking to add some fun additional competition. At the moment this is what we are proposing.
I looked at the handicap leaderboard and it looks like we have 18 players. That would be 9 teams of 2 for match play. Another option is to have the top 4 players become captains and have teams of 4 with 2 players as weekly substitutes (In case someone can't play their rounds). if we play our normal rounds we could post our scorecards for match play. Then we compare the scorecards with the team we are up against. Looking at each hole you would get a point for the lowest score for that hole. If the hole is halved then 0 points. This way we don't play extra rounds and we can also keep our leaderboards in tack. We may have to adjust as we go if we run into unforeseen issues. If anyone has ideas or suggestions please post and let us know. Thanks!

My suggestion is for teams of two, the possibility of matchplay is great with combined score for holes for alt shot working really well from past experience . But the problem is we don't have api access and would need everyone to post scorecards.
We could do team strokeplay which also brings camaraderie and something to play for from everyone each week.
This thread is all about ideas to make a great team competition, we are looking for input from all members.

Going to bump this thread as we have no real feedback. My idea is another team leaderboard, admin will try to make it as competitive as possible. Strokeplay teams based on handicaps, could be great fun. The bottom of the leaderboard teamed up with the top.

It’s a terrific idea. I’d be happy to help with the admin stuff if you need the help. Happy to put scores into a spreadsheet or whatever, but I’d need someone else to set it up and walk me through how to access it. I have an old laptop I can use no worries.
If I had a choice, I’d like to see each platform put up a team of 5 (or whatever) and play match play with handicaps. Would mean 2 weeks on, one week off for each team, and we’d make sure anyone who wanted a game got a game on the platforms where there’s more people. We could make a thread for each platform to post their scores so the final result wouldn’t be obvious until the announcement of results. Obviously people could have a look at the other teams scores if they wanted to, but I doubt many in this group would if we asked them not to. One extra round per week that could be played in the extra events society pretty easily. We could just make it a one day event of the previous weeks course the day it ends or something.
Just chucking ideas out there, take the ball and run guys 👍

My passion is matchplay but that requires everyone's scorecard. A team strokeplay leaderboard is easy to do weekly. We can also have a matchplay and team matchplay tournament but we still need everyone's scorecard. We do have loyal members such as ElectableMule that plays every week but doesn't post which I have no problem with, a good teammate as her game has really improved recently for the team strokeplay leaderboard. |

I’d love to play Gav or any of the great players with a handicap in match play. I’d get shots on the hardest 4 or 5 holes that I could play safe-ish on and need to attack the ones I didn’t. Or the opposite lol.
Might load Als last round in this weeks tourney and play him match play just for fun. Have got a headset sorted so might even broadcast it and swear my way through it lol.

I am up for this, but I would prefer one on one match play, just have the winner of each match post the result and he or she moves on to play the next round.

This is actually a great idea for a secondary handicap tournament, it could actually also work with teams (fourballs or foursomes(combined hole score format). 16 single players would need 5 rounds to have a winner, 16 teams of 2 would need 4 rounds. We need scorecards though and commitment to play, that is essential. |

Building on @sirwade idea of a USE World team Matchplay and ray Handicap Matchplay ideas. We are gonna have an handicap matchplay this week at Muirfield Village based on this weeks scorecards . Teams if we can get 16 players otherwise 8 player single matchplay. An idea based on @sirwade 's team thinking which we could do one upcoming week. What works fine if we can get an even number is 2 teams. Captains could pick the pairings for the first 3 rounds and round 4 could be singles. Handicap system would make it quite a nice competition. Throwing up ideas to make it competitive and fun for the whole society. Stuff like this could be a nice addition to the main event
